How to minimise risk when choosing a bathroom renovation company
Bathroom renovations require a whole army of skilled and experienced trades.
To complete a bathroom renovation, you will need a plumber, a demolition crew, a carpenter, a plasterer, a waterproofer, a tiler, a caulker and a shower screen installer.
For a successful outcome, all trades must work in harmony together. They must all share the same vision. The entire team must all be striving for the same result.
To guarantee the highest quality result, your bathroom renovator or shower leak repair specialist must have an in-house team of tradies, not subcontractors.
If your builder outsources their trades, it is impossible for them to maintain quality control, installation/application techniques, and consistency where all trades work together towards a shared vision and common final goal.
When bathroom renovation tradies are not “in-house employees”, they are not a part of a dedicated team. The builder has no control over the sub-contractors.
The builder can’t control the sub-contractor’s scheduling. The builder cannot control when and if they come to the site or what tasks they complete.
Sub-contractors work for themselves and contract themselves out to builders and homeowners. If the “subby” gets a better offer or runs over schedule on another project, they may not show up for your project and are not obligated to.
Often builders use subcontractors that they have never used before when in a pinch. They are usually not vetted for security, workmanship or reliability.
When using sub-contractors, you can’t control processes or procedures.
Subcontractors don’t share the same vision. Each trade is forced to make do with what the previous trade has left for them to work with.
This results in sub-standard workmanship and poor-quality finishes on the bathroom renovation.
Bathroom renovation is not something you get a second chance at.
You can’t fix waterproofing later. You only get one chance to get it right.
There is no room for error in a bathroom renovation.
If waterproofing fails, the only way to fix it will be to gut the bathroom again.
